Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss AC Milan’s game against Liverpool on Wednesday night due to an issue with his Achilles tendon.
Ibrahimovic made his return from injury against Lazio at the weekend, scoring in Milan’s 2-0 victory at the San Siro. It was a significant boost for Milan ahead of their first Champions League game of the season at Anfield.
But it is now understood that the Swede will not be available. It is understood that Ibrahimovic is only missing out as a precautionary measure, having suffered from some tightness around his Achilles’ tendon since his return to action at the weekend.
Sunday’s game was Ibrahimovic’s first appearance since May 9, when he had to be substituted off in the second-half of Milan’s 3-0 win over Juventus. Ibrahimovic had suffered an injury to his left knee, which would rule him out for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
Ibrahimovic, 39, scored 15 goals in 19 Serie A appearances for AC Milan last season.
He has represented Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy among other sides during his playing career.
