The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, has congratulated Asante Kotoko for their qualification into the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s Porcupine Warriors put up a vintage performance to beat Coton Sport 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The win brings the team back into the group stage of the competition after 13 years with a 5-3 aggregate win, having won the reverse 3-2 in Cameroon last week.

The Minister charged Asante Kotoko to bring back the country’s lost glory in football.

“Isaac Asiamah, on behalf of the government and the people of Ghana to congratulate Kumasi Asante Kotoko for progressing to the group stage of CAF Confederation Cup competition with a massive aggregate victory,” read the statement signed on behalf of the minister by the Public Relations Officer, Gifty Hagan.

“Having progressed further to the group stage, the minister urges the club to do well and reignite Ghana’s successes in continental football.
