Roma’s perfect start to the Serie A campaign came to an end as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Hellas Verona on Sunday night.

Jose Mourinho’s side missed out on the opportunity to reclaim top spot, with Davide Faraoni’s second half strike proving to be the difference.

The away side broke the deadlock after 36 minutes, as Lorenzo Pellegrini turned home a delightful back-heel volley into the top corner.H

However, Hellas Verona equalised just four minutes into the second half through a close-range Antonin Barak finish, before Gianluca Caprari fired home to give the home side the lead.

Roma managed to claw themselves level through an Ivan Ilic own goal on 58 minutes, but Faraoni was on hand five minutes later to arrow an unstoppable effort in off the crossbar, inflicting Roma’s first defeat of the Serie A season and their first with Mourinho.
