Former Black Stars winger Laryea Kingson has shared his thoughts on who he believes is the better player between Michael Essien and Thomas Partey.

According to him, the former Chelsea midfielder and his Black Stars teammate is above the Atletico Madrid player.

“They [Partey and Essien] all have their strengths and weaknesses but I will say I was privileged to play alongside Michael Essien. We all know the work he did at Chelsea. Partey has done well and is still doing well but Essien was something else.”- Laryea Kingston told Joy FM.

It is not yet known who or what triggered this conversation, but the comments on this issue in the last few days has been very interesting

In a Twitter reaction, some are in support of Essien, who they averred that it is wrong to compare the Atletico Madrid midfielder to.

A section also say Partey is ahead of Michael Essien.

I knw the stat fanatics ll pull out Essien vs Partey stats soon but there is more to football than just numbers.If u are richer than ur father,it doesn't mean u are wiser than him. More often than nt stats r deceptive nd doesn't tell the whole story in football.

Essien won Champions league 2012, also a finalist in 2008
He won Chelsea goal of the season twice in 2006/7 and 2008/9
