Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has debunked rumours that Judan Ali is set to be named the new technical director.
The country’s football governing body Technical Director’s job is vacant following the departure of Samuel Francis Oti Akenteng whose contract expired at the end of March 2020.
GFA have shortlisted and interviewed 6 candidates for the job. The six is made up of three Ghanaians and three expatriates.
Reports this week suggested that the country’s football governing body is closing on naming the English born trainer, Judan Alli as the technical director for the West African nation.
However, in an interview with Citi FM, Henry Asante Twum disclosed the Jadan Ali is not part of the shortlisted candidates so hence all the speculation going around about his appointment are false.
According to him, is no way someone who is not part of the process all of a sudden would be in contention for the top job. When asked to name the six candidates in contention for the job he declined.
The Communications Director further called for time as he insisted a new Technical Director will be named soon. He shared that they need to conduct a thorough job to pick the best man for the job hence the slow in process.
“The process of selecting the Technical Director is over. The team that conducted the interview and went through the various processes are yet to submit their reports and recommendations to the Executive Council for which reason a decision will be made as regards the appointment fo a new technical director,” he told Citi FM.
I think they have done a thorough job, digging into the background of all shortlisted coaches and I believe they will send a good report to the Executive Council for them to take a firm decision, and then the general secretary would be given the green light to make the appointment.
I know people are anxious but sometimes it is good to wait to get the best out of the situation than to be in a rush and make a mistake.
I will call on the general public to give us a few more days to settle on this particular candidate for the job,” he ended.
