Accra Hearts of Oak have lined up two more friendlies at the preseason camping base near Cape Coast as the team winds up the training programme ahead of the start of the 2020-21 Ghana football season.
Ghana’s premier side will take on fellow topflight campaigners Medeama SC and Elmina Sharks FC in high profile encounters today and Thursday with Coach Edward Odoom expected to name a strong side for both encounters.
Last weekend, Hearts scored 11 goals in three similar encounters and, Coach Odoom will hope his charges will come to the party again with their scoring boots on.
Those games were against lower-tier sides Scientific Soccer Academy who were beaten 4-0; Lagos Town United who lost 6-1 and with elite division campaigners Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs who drew 1-1 with the Phobians.
Medeama SC who like Hearts of Oak are putting finishing touches to their preparations ahead of the new campaign are expected to provide a much stiffer opposition to Hearts of Oak in Wednesday’s game to be played at the Glow Lamp Soccer Academy pitch. ear Cape Coast where the Phobians are camping.
The game, therefore, is expected to be keenly contested as has been their previous encounters on the local scene in Ghana.
Hearts will then take on Elmina Sharks in another high profile game on Thursday at the same venue to roundup the two-weeks camping on Ghana’s western coast.
This game is also expected to be fiercely fought ahead of the start of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) which is set to officially kick off on the weekend of November 13-15, 2020.
Team Hearts of Oak is then expected to return to Accra on Friday just a week before they trek to Dormaa to play Aduana Stars in their season opener at the Nana Agyemang Badu I, Park.
The camping near Cape Coast and the friendlies were important one’s for Coach Odoom as he looks to strike a good balance for the team before the start of the new season.
