Accra Hearts of Oak Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Frederick Moore has chid the media to be circumspect on their reportage and highlight the positives about the club rather than the negativity they sometimes seek to portray.
Some of this reportage he added, are mischievous and a deliberate and calculate ploy to drag the name of the club in the mud to achieve their selfish aims.
Mr Moore said these ill-tempted negative reports on the club has driven away several sponsorships from the club believing that such potential sponsors have been swayed by these negatives most of which are not true.
The Hearts CEO made these remarks in an interview with Kumasi based radio station, Pure FM on Thursday during his working visit to the Garden City.
Mr Moore said such negative stories have been a hindrance to the progress of the game in the country and, he further revealed that Hearts have lost many sponsorship deals because of the negativity attached to the club by the media.
“If I tell you the number of sponsorships, we’ve lost because of the negative press you would probably think I’m lying,” Mr Moore said.
He said the club lost a host of potential deals because of these negatives adding that: “Once the information comes out as negative, whether it’s true or not 50% of the people will believe and the other 50% will not believe It.”
“I am hoping there will be a day where the press in Ghana will positively support positive news 90% of the time”, Mr Moore said, adding that, this will only go well to aid in the development of the local game if journos will be fair.
