The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sympathised with the family of Alhaji Yakubu Moro following the death of the owner and Division One club Berekum Arsenal FC.
Alhaji Moro passed away on Thursday night following a short illness at the Ridge Regional Hospital.
Several tributes have poured in for Alhaji Yakubu Moro and the GFA is the latest to express its pain and sorrow at the passing of the Berekum Arsenal owner.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely death of the Founder and long-standing Club President of Berekum Arsenal Alhaji Yakubu Moro.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the entire Berekum Arsenal Family. Rest In Peace Alhaji”
Under Alhaji Moro, Berekum Arsenal earned promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2000 and stayed on until 2013 where they got relegated.
In 2006, the Berekum club qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup but were eliminated in the second round by Angolan giants Petro Atletico.
Alhaji Moro will be buried on Friday as per Islamic practices.
