Sacked Medeama SC goalkeeper, Frank Boateng says his howler against Hearts of Oak in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals occurs to even World class goalkeepers.

Following his blunder, the Yellow and Mauves in a statement released on Tuesday, August 3, announced that the former AshantiGold shot-stopper’s contract has been mutually terminated.

Boateng miscalculated his run and as result failed to clear a through ball from harm’s way as the ball fell to Hearts striker Isaac Mensah who slotted home calmly.

Medeama eventually bowed out of the knockout competition, losing the match 3-0 to the current Ghana Premier League Champions.

The 27-year-old has reacted to the mistake that has led to the termination of his contract with the Tarkwa based side.

“Because you are not on the field you would say it’s the goalkeeper’s fault. But being on the pitch, there was too much moisture on the field and thus was slippery. The pass was curled so I intended to bring it under control before clearing the ball but the ball took a bounce off the field and swerved me into the player’s direction…

It is football and even the top top goalkeepers make a similar mistake but I won’t let this dump my spirit, no. I will urge those who trust me to continue trusting me. Football is like that. I will also ensure that it won’t continue.” he told Oyerepa FM
