Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has revealed the most challenging opponent he’s ever faced in his professional career.
Bekoe has faced several defenders in his time playing in the Ghana Premier League and Egyptian football as well as his stint with FC Leopard in Kenya.
His stay in the Ghana Premier League with Kotoko will always be remembered when he had a gruelling clash with then Hearts defender Dan Coleman but Bekoe has noted that the ex-Hearts of Oak defender was most the most challenging opponent he’s ever faced.
Asked which defender gave him the toughest time on the pitch, Bekoe named former AshantiGold and current captain of Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew, Jonathan Mensah as the toughest opponent to play against.
“The only defender who took me to the naked wire in a match throughout my career is Jonathan Mensah. Not even Daniel Coleman will come near to him. He gave me my worst moment which stopped me from scoring,” Eric Bekoe told Opemsuo FM.
Bekoe has also had stints with Tudu Mighty Jets, Liberty Professionals, Kpando Hearts Lions, Berekum Chelsea and Sekondi Hassacas.
Bekoe was unstoppable during the 2007/2008 season where he finished as the Most valuable Player and topscorer in the Ghana Premier League with 17 goals.
He impressively netted 42 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions that season.
