Kumasi Asante Kotoko are confident new Brazilian signing Fabio Dos Santos Gama will be a big success at the club.

The 28-year-old Brazilian joined Kotoko on a two year deal after leaving Swedish side Jönköpings Sodra IF.

The former Brazil U-20 star has played for 15 clubs in the last years and has struggled to hold down a starting for any of those teams.

But Kotoko’s Communications Manger, Moses Antwi Benefo has no doubt Gama will come good for the club.

“You will agree with me that we’ve had flamboyant players playing for their previous clubs when they move on to other clubs they find difficulties. We’ve seen several of them we don’t want to mention names.

Similarly, we can have somebody who doesn’t have the numbers but when given the chance the person can produce results that you want and that is what we all look forward to getting from Fabio Gama. We know the numbers that you have may not be encouraging, but we know the skills and talent that he is made up of.

So we are of the firm believe that when he is given the chance and he’s fit will deliver what is expected of him, even beyond what the fans and management expect from him.”

Gama joins the list of Brazilian players to have signed for Kotoko in recent times, following the likes of Gleisson de Souza Ferreira in 2005 and Hermes da Silva in 2013.

His career was largely based in his home country, and Gama’s last two clubs before joining Kotoko were Varnomo and Jonkoping, who were based in the Swedish second division.

Back home in Brazil, he played for Bahia, Botafago-SP, Botafago, Serrano-BA, Operario-MS, SE Gama, ABC FC and most recently Itabaiana-SE and UR Trabalhadore.

The holy month of Ramadan for Muslims began on Thursday (file photo) In a statement on Thursday, the religious police force, known as Hisbah Board, warned that those who engage in societal vices during the sacred month will be punished, local media reported. “Some of the youths who eat in public during the fasting period will not be spared either,” the commander-general of the board, Harun Ibn-Sina, was quoted as saying. Mr Ibn-Sina said the board has deployed officers to mosques to ensure the safety during the fasting period which started on Thursday. Hisbah Board enforces Islamic law in Kano, a largely Muslim state.
