AshantiGold boss Ernest Thompson Quartey says he wants to win the upcoming 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.

The ex-Ebusua Dwarfs coach has joined the Obuasi-based club on a two-year deal ahead of the new season.

He takes over from Thomas Duah who acted as the interim head coach from May till the end of the season as AshantiGold finished 9th position on the league standings.

According to Ernest Thompson Quartey, he is looking forward to winning make the top four at least, and if there is the possibility of clinching the trophy he will go all out for it.

“The target is to ensure that we are in the top 4 at the end of the league and if possible be winners of the league this time around. because I think AshantiGold have all the facilities which include quality in-depth and if we should get everything going I believe the performance will be very good,” he said.

“I believe we have what it takes and if we push a little we can meet the target that we’ve set for ourselves.”

The coach added that he is not going to ring many changes as the team is already in place.

AshantiGold finished last season with five coaches in charge of the club. Roberto Landi, Milovan Cirkovic, Romain Folz, Sarfo Castro, and Thomas Duah were all in the dugout at some stage during the season.

The Miners also made it to the final of the FA Cup. But they lost on penalties to league champions, Hearts of Oak.

Coach Quartey handled Dwarfs from the beginning of the campaign but he left the post in June 2021.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has announced that the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League will commence on October 29.
