Ebusua Dwarfs coach Ernest Thompson Quartey says his outfit is drawing positives from the suspension of the Ghana Premier League due to Covid-19 outbreak to stay fit and mount a strong challenge when the epidemic ends.

Unlike other clubs who have given their players some respite after government’s directive on Sunday night, Dwarfs are still going about normal routine despite the league being halted.

Speaking in an interview, Ernest Thompson said they are not better placed on the log so they are putting in much effort to stay fit and move out of the relegation zone when the league bounces back.

“This outbreak comes with a lot of advantages and disadvantages because it has brought down activities,” he told Kumasi-based Otec FM.

“But we will still continue with our training sessions because we have a lot to achieve.

“With or without Covid-19, we will still work harder for a proper position on the league log when it resumes.

“We will put in measures which will prevent our players from [contracting] that disease.”

President Akufo-Addo on Sunday banned all public gatherings including conferences, Sporting events, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities and other related events as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The GFA followed up shortly after with the suspension of 2019/2020 football season as part of measures to control the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dwarfs lie 16th on the 18-team Ghana Premier League table and will need to pick up wins to move out of the relegation zone if they plan on staying in the league when it resumes.
