A Seven-member committee inaugurated for the upcoming Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region ll Athletics Championship which will be held in Cape Coast.
The Board Chairman for National Sports Authority (NSA) Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo , on behalf of the Ministry of Youth & Sports-GH, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) Region II, U-18 and U-20 Championship slated for Cape Coast from the 18th to 22nd May, 2022.
In a keynote address during the launching in Accra on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, Mr Boyoyo expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honour done him and reaffirmed governments support for developing sports at all levels. He also made mention of several achievements of athletes outside Ghana.
The 7 member committee is made up of Mohammed Adjei Sowah – Chairman,
Afia Serebour – Secretary, Jeffery Owusu – Member, Julius B. Apidogo – Member, Samuel T. Ayer – Member, Marc Dzradosi – Member and Bawah Fuseini – Member.
He used the opportunity to congratulate the Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah who is the former mayor of Accra and his members for accepting to be members of the LOC.
“To me, this is national duty call to serve our motherland. Even though the time is short, I have no doubt in my mind that with our experience, we will make sure that the championship is not only going to be a success but team Ghana will win.”
“I am aware of the time limitation at our disposal for my committee, with just a few days to go, to get this championship done but I also do know that the committee is made up of experienced and dedicated individuals who will make sure we succeed.”
Also present at the launch were Dr. Kwaku Ofosu Asare, Executive Chairman of the Accra 2023 Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mr Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director General (Administration) of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
