Zambia Women National team coach Bruce Mwape says his team made too many mistakes that’s why they suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Nigeria in the AWCON.
Mwape believes there was too much expectations on the team after their five-nil win over two-time Champions, Equatorial Guinea.
“I will congratulate Nigeria for their victory today. They played well and actually my team made a lot of mistakes especially during transition, thus we lost most of the balls,” he said.
“After winning 5-0 in our first game against Equatorial Guinea, a lot of people were expecting us to give Nigeria tough time, unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned,” he added.
Mwape said the team lacks consistency and could have won if they had played like they did in the first game.
“The 5-0 win in the opening match was no fluke according to the game we played. We created a lot of goal scoring opportunities in that game compared to today. Lack of consistency cost us. If we had played the way we did in our first game, the story could have been different,” he said.
