Appiah McCarthy has confirmed he is set to re-sign for Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold.
McCarthy who has been a key performer for the Miners since his arrival at the club in 2017 left the Obuasi based club last month after the expiration of his contract.
The 23-year-old has disclosed in an interview with Kumasi based Fox FM that, he is close to rejoining AshantiGold.
According to him, talks with the Miners are at an advanced stage.
McCarthy joined AshantiGold SC from Division One League side Asokwa Deportivo prior to the start of the second round of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season.
He underwent trials at Swiss Challenge League side FC Chiasso last year but failed to secure a deal due to injury.
McCarthy scored one goal in his nine appearances for AshantiGold SC in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.
His comeback will be a major boost for AshantiGold as they aim to make amends in the 2020/21 CAF Confederations Cup following their poor show in the competition last season.
Also, his presence will be needed as the Miners plan on winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League set to commence in October, pending government approval.
