Ghana international Alfred Duncan marked his debut for Cagliari on Monday night as they lost to AC Milan 2-0 in matchweek 18 of the Serie A.
The midfielder joined the Sardinians from fellow Serie A side Fiorentina over the weekend on a loan deal with an option to buy him for €13 million in the summer.
Without wasting much time, the coach of Cagliari, Eusebio Di Francisco who will be working with Duncan for the second time after the duo had worked at Sassuolo, handed the Black Stars midfielder his first start but his effort was not enough at the Sardegna Arena as AC Milan beat them.
The 27-year-old saw 67 minutes of action before being replaced by Christian Oliva.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as AC Milan regained their three-point lead at the top of Serie A with a victory at Cagliari.
Ibrahimovic, who now has 13 goals from 13 matches this term, won and converted a penalty to open the scoring.
His second after the break ensured a comfortable evening for Milan, who had Alexis Saelemaekers sent off.
Ibrahimovic’s efforts in front of goal mean Milan have now scored in 19 consecutive away fixtures in Serie A to equal their best ever run in the competition.
Meanwhile, Cagliari who have lost their last five matches sit 17th on the log, a place above the relegation zone and they next take on Genoa on January 24.
