Anti-corruption crusader, Sydney Casely Hayford has indicated that he will retract and render an unqualified apology for his comments against the Parliament of Ghana.

His decision comes after the MP for Kumbungu Ras Mubarak called on the leadership of the House to drag him before the privileges committee to answer charges of possible contempt.

The member of pressure group Occupy Ghana is reported to have said at summit that Ghana would have been better off without Parliament and if given the chance he will “break down” the law-making house and turn it into a tourist site adding the lawmakers in Ghana make “stupid decisions.”

Ras Mubarak says Mr Casely Hayford’s  comments constitute an attack on the integrity of all MPs, past, and present, and bothers on promoting hatred and vandalism against the house when he talks about breaking down Parliament. He stressed legislators have a duty to defend the honour and integrity of this House.

In his reaction, Sydney Casely Hayford admitted his comments were untoward. He stated that his comments went a little too far in the heat of the discussions.

Speaking to Starr FM he said, “unreservedly an apology will be made and I will make it to the media shortly.” I will also retract officially and in print.”

He continued that, his comments were not to incite people against the lawmaking chamber.
