Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has fulfiled all promises made to Zongo Communities in Ghana and deserve a second term.
He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam Sheikh(Dr) Usman Nuhu Sharubutu on July 12, 2020 at Fadama in Accra.
His visit was to officially inform the religious leader of his nomination as the running mate to President Akufo-Addo in the upcoming elections.
Dr Bawumia said in the last 3 years the government has rolled out life-changing policies in the Zongos and therefore deserve a second term and massive votes in the upcoming general elections.
According to him Free SHS and the sponsorship of some 40 students from mainly Muslim communities to study medicine in Cuba among others clearly demonstrates the NPP’s commitment to developing the Zongos.
“We airlifted 40 medical students from Zongo communities to Cuba to study medicine. We want to continue developing Zongos going forward. It is our vision that no one is left behind going forward. Now what we want to push here is education then our people will be uplifted. Today I have come to inform the Chief Imam that the President has selected me to come to him to ask for his blessings. We have done something in the last 3 years to show our commitment to the Zongo Communities. This is just the begining and Nana Addo is asking for 4 more years.
The NPP recently acclaimed President Akufo-Addo as the flagbearer of the party.
He also selected Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the 2020 general elections.
He lauded Bawumia for working “tirelessly and effectively” to support the government since the NPP came into power in 2017.
He told party executives and leaders present that, along with Bawumia, he would do everything in his power to lead the party to victory in 2020.
President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will come up against NDC’s John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang in the December polls.
