The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disputed assertions that the running mate to the party’s flagbearer, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is incapable of running Ghana if they win power.

Communications Director of the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoa and Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensa Bonsu have both described Prof. Opoku-Agyemang as incapable of being a Vice President.

Speaking at (6th) edition of the NDC Weekly Press Briefing on July 8, 2020 Communications Officer of the party Sammy Gyamfi described the comments as sexist.

“Apart from the sexist and baseless comments of Yaw Buaben Asamoa and a similarly disgraceful comments by Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is not capable of being Vice President of Ghana, it is one of the most misrepesentative statement by someone in high office.

The NDC on Monday announced Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate to John Mahama for the 2020 election.

The governing NPP at a press conference in Accra, on July 6, 2020, Yaw Buaben Asamoa said former president John Mahama’s choice of running mate is an indication that he does not take Ghanaian electorates seriously.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa while congratulating Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang said her performance while holding that office is proof that she is not the best person for the job.

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu also speaking in an interview said Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was not fit to lead the nation.
