One of the 10 flagbearer aspirants in the ongoing NPP Super Delegates Congress, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Kennedy has threatened to challenge President Akufo–Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over reports one of his agents was chased away from a polling center.
In a video that has gone viral, the Assin Central MP was heard saying, “I swear to God, President Akufo–Addo, I will give you a show down, Vice President I’ll give you showdown for chasing my agent out to run into a room. You will see what will happen here. Yes, I swear on God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo anytime”.
The viral video in which the MP was seen speaking on the phone is believed to have been recorded in the Central Region where he cast his vote in the ongoing election earlier this morning.
The NPP is holding its Super Delegates Congress today as about 961 delegates are expected to decide the fate of the ten NPP presidential aspirants by selecting five for the Party’s presidential primary slated for November 4, 2023.
The election which is taking place at the 16 Regional Capitals nationwide and the party’s headquarters, Asylum Down, would close at 1300 hours.
The 10 aspirants vying to lead the party as they appear on the ballot paper for the elections are Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, number one; Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, number two; Joe Ghartey, number three; Kwadwo Poku, number four; Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, number five and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, number six.
The rest are Francis Addai-Nimoh, seventh; Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, eighth; Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, ninth; and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at the 10th position.
