Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong says he did not want to contest this year’s general elections.

According to him, he has worked over the years and needed to rest but some chiefs in his area have asked him not to.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosiisen’ Kennedy Agyapong said over the 20 years of his service to the NPP party and his constituency the time has come for him to bow out of politics.

He has revealed that in the year 2024 he will bow out of politics and allow some others to also represent the constituency.

On issues of his selected candidate to replace him, Kennedy Agyapong said he is not going to select any person to replace him.

But rather the hard work of the person will show whether or not members of the constituency will back him or her to represent them.

He was quick to add that on the ticket of the party he can assess the candidature of the persons contesting their primaries and tell who will help the party to secure victory.

Kennedy Agyapong said he is a person who likes rewarding hard work and will do so for anyone who has been with the party and helped in their activities.

Kenndy Agyapong noted that after his exit in 2024 it will be difficult for the first and second person who will replace him.

He believes that the popularity level and the work he has done in the constituency will be very challenging for any new person.

He stated that is aim is to leave the constituency with a remarkable achievement that will be difficult to match.

Kennedy Agyapong said after the two terms after his exit constituency members will realise that no one can match his record and will lower the bar for the subsequent MPs.
