The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is confident the youth of Ghana will vote to maintain them in power because of the interventions put in place in the midst of COVID-19.

Speaking at an event to commemorate the International Youth Day, National Youth Organiser of the NPP Henry Nana Boakye says the youth of Ghana have benefitted immensely from all interventions President Akufo-Addo put in place.

He spoke on the theme ‘Youth engagement in mitigating impact of COVID-19, the need for inovation and creativity’

“These interventions and initiatives have significantly improved the lives of the youth so much that I am of the firm believe that they will vote massively for the NPP. The NPP and all youth will use every strategy available to make sure Akufo-Addo is elected for the second term and we the youth shall do it. We are encouraged by the youth wing of the party and the youth accross the country”.

Mr Boakye mentioned some incentives the government has donated to the youth like face mask to schools, hand sanitizers, veronica buckets among others.

He also said some youth who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic have benefitted from free water and electricity and also some tax cuts for health workers.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission of Ghana has completed it’s voters registeration exercise and says some 16.9 million persons.

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa has assured that minors and foreigners who participated in the recently held voters registration exercise will be removed from the register before election 2020.

President Akufo-Addo will be seeking a second term after been acclaimed by the NPP.

He also selected current Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be his running mate for the 2020 election.

President Akufo-Addo will come up against his closest rival John Mahama and Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang of the NDC.
