The Director of Elections at the EC, Dr Serebour Quaicoe says the commission is working to ensure Presidential results are declared just 24 hours after voting ends.
The 2020 polls will come off on December 7, 2020.
Many says with the chaos that characterized the Voters registration exercise is a red flag that we may have a lot of delays in after the December polls but Dr Quaicoe says they are working to clear that doubt.
“In everything you want to achieve you set it up and prepare for it so that is the target we have set for ourselves and we have tasked all our officials to work towards it. We are expecting that before we go to bed on the 7th the district and constituencies would have completed their work and when that is done by mid 8th December the information should be hitting our headquarters and one thing we have introduced for the 2020 elections is we will also do regional collation so instead of the head office doing collation of 275 results we will only do 16 so the regions will do the collation and send to us, so by the close or December 8 we would have come out with the Presidential results”
The Electoral Commission says it is ready for the December 7, Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
Chairperson of the Commission Jean Mensa told Parliament that all necessary arrangements and materials are almost set for the polls.
“Mr Speaker, I am pleased to inform you that the Electoral Commission is 95 per cent ready for the successful, credible, fair, orderly and peaceful conduct of the election on December 7, 2020.
