President Akufo-Addo has thrown a subtle jibe at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flagbearer John Mahama after he officially nominated Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate.

The President speaking at the acclamation ceremony said his party is very prepared and that is why they have nominated a running mate early to show their readiness.

“My choice of running mate for the fourth time is the hardworking Vice president. “I have the great honour to put into consultation with you for the 4th time, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia” The nomination of Bawumia will complete the party’s ticket for victory. This nomination shows how prepared and ready the party is going into the 2020 elections”.

Mahama was nominated flagbearer of the party last year but is yet to select his partner.

He has explained on several platforms that he will soon do the needful and has a fair idea of who he wants as his running mate.

In March Mahama had to deny reports that he had appointed Professor Kwesi Botchwey as his running mate for the 2020 general elections.

Mr Botchwey has been strongly tipped to become the running mate to John Mahama.

Several names have been mentioned as favourites for the position.

Key names such as Dr Kwabena Duffuor, Kwesi Ahwoi, Prof John Gatsi, Nii Okoi Dsane, Alex Mould are some of the names that have prominently come out for the running mate position.
