Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says the Akufo-Addo government has handled the COVID-19 crisis better than Mahama’s handling of the ‘Dumsor’ crisis.

He said even though the COVID-19 crisis is greater than the ‘Dumsor’ crisis they have been able to manage the situation well with some interventions.

Dr Bawumia made this known when he spoke to the media on May 4, 2020, after chairing a COVID-19 meeting at the Jubilee House.

“Under the Presidency of Akufo-Addo we are experiencing the global pandemic which is COVID-19 , look at this coronavirus crisis how it is being handled and compare it to ‘Dumsor’ under Mahama. We have provided free water for three months, reduced electricity and provided a stimulus package of GHC 600m for businesses, provided Personal Protective Equipment to our workers so the difference is very clear”.

He also hit back at Mahama over his recent comments concerning infrastructure development under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Mr Mahama said the current government has not done much in terms of infrastructure and that has badly affected the fight against COVID-19.

Dr Bawumia, however, asked the former President to check data before speaking or risk embarrassing himself because it is clear the current government has thrived in all sectors of the economy.

The fight against COVID-19 is still on and the recent update released by the Ghana Health Service on May 2, 2020 pegged Ghana’s cases at 2,169.

The recovery numbers stand at 229 with 18 deaths.
