The Ghana Water Company Limited says water rationing in some part of the capital Accra is now part and parcel of us.
The company noted that most people in some areas of Accra are aware of this and also knows the days they will be supplied with water.
Distribution Manager for Accra West District Engineer Dr Kwabena Agyekum in an interview with Citi FM said some of the challenges experienced with water supply has been due to a power outage at the Weija plant.
“The little challenge we had was somewhere about a week ago when Weija was down almost the whole day as a result of a power outage. If we don’t have power to go through the treatment processes even though Weija is on… that was the main cause of the problem.”
He added that water rationing has now become part and parcel of us.
“We are rationing the water, so everybody has the days that they will get water. It has become part and parcel of them…”
MD for GWLC Clifford Briamah said issues with the Tema area has also be resolved.
“It has been rectified, as at yesterday some areas started getting water and then today all the rest of the place will start getting water.”
The Ghana Water Company has over the weekend announced that there will be an interruption in the water supply to some areas in the Ashanti Region on May 17, 2020.
In a release, the GWCL said the interruption will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on May 17, 2020, due to a maintenance work been carried out.
