Residents of Kpetoe in the Volta Region have clashed with police in the area after the arrest of some persons believed to have entered the country illegally.
14 persons were arrested for illegally entering Ghana from Togo and attempting to register in the ongoing voters registration exercise.
Kpetoe residents in the Agotime Ziofe District did not take the arrest lightly as they stormed the police station demanding the release of the suspects.
They were later joined by some leading members of the NDC who later helped the suspects secure bail.
MP for Ho West Emmanuel Bedzrah said they will be ready for war if that is what the NPP want to bring to the Volta Region.
“This is our region NPP has no role in this region and I want to sound this warning once again if NPP wants to bring war between NDC and NPP in the Volta Region we are ready for them.”
There has been additional military deployment to some of the border towns in the country including towns in the Volta Region.
Residents in these areas have complained about the intimidation atmosphere being created by the presence of these security officers.
The NDC has also accused the government of trying to intimidate the people of the Volta Region in the ongoing voters registration exercise but a response from the government said the deployment is only to enforce the border closure to stem the spread of Covid-19
