A 32-year-old farmer has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 56-year-old land lady, Madam Abena Fremah in cold blood at Akyem Osorase near Oda in the Eastern Region .

According Akyem Achiase District Police Commander,  Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ernest Kodjo Dokounon, the deceased, Madam Abena Fremah rented a single room apartment to the suspect, Yaw Boadi for over one year.

After expiry of the tenancy agreement, the deceased wanted to eject Boadi for stealing a mobile phone belonging to her daughter, a situation that brought a grudge between the two.

ASP Dokounon said during an exchange of words between the two, Boadi threatened to kill Madam Fremah so she reported the matter to her husband, Mr Joseph Dwamenah. He said for the fear of her life, Madam Fremah stayed with her husband at Osorase for four days.

On the fifth day, she heard that her son who was a student at Agona Swedru School of Business had come home on holidays so she went to sleep in her house so that the following day she would attend a funeral at Ada Foah.

According to ASP Dokuonon, the  relatives of Madam Fremah were informed that she had been murdered in her house in the outskirts of Osorase with a piece of red wood in her house and the body dragged to some cocoa trees in the compound with blood oozing from the mouth and nostrils.

The District Commander said police investigations revealed that Boadi murdered the woman in cold blood and took refuge in Osorase town so they arrested him.

He said during investigation, Boadi confessed killing the woman and said he had regretted his action.

ASP Dokuonon said Boadi would be prosecuted as soon as police completed their investigations.  Meanwhile, the body of Madam Fremah has been deposited at the morgue of the Oda Government Hospital for autopsy, Graphic Online reported.
