Sir John did not die from COVID-19 – Family member discloses

A family member has disclosed that the former General Secretary of the NPP, Lawyer Kwadwo Afriyie popularly known as Sir John did not die from COVID-19 as earlier reported in the media.

The member made this disclosure after the family announced the burial arrangements of the deceased, Sir John.

“The burial would be in March, 2021; Well that is what came up from the meeting with the government,” the source said.

The source went on to deny reports that he died of COVID-19 as been reported in the media.

According to the family, Sir John will be laid in state and buried subsequently with the final funeral rites on March 2021.

However, Family of the late Sir John has scheduled his one-week celebration for Wednesday 22nd July, 2020.

The family formally informed the government about the demise of their beloved Kwadwo Afriyie, Sir John and used the occasion to announce the funeral date and the arrangement being put in place to ensure a befitting burial.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, Sir John tested positive of COVID-19 and was admitted at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
