Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has revealed what keeps him on his feet in court for two hours at age 70.
During the 2020 Election Petition, there have some level of admiration for Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata’s advocacy in court and being able to stand on his feet for hours at age 70.
Most Ghanaians on both traditional and social media believe he has excelled in his profession as a lawyer.
In an interview on the KSM Show, Tsatsu Tsikata attributed his ability to stand for long at old age to his passion to make sure things are done strictly by the constitution.
This ‘insane obsession’ has made him do all his best in his advocacy to get things done by the constitution.
“…These judges are supposed to be independent of whoever appointed them subject only to the constitution and so when I advocate on the basis of the constitution that is because for me that is what the judges are ultimately subjected to. I find it important to bring it to their attention as possible as I can so if a 70year-old stands up for two hours on that basis it is because he is energized.”
When asked whether or not he will still be energized to do the same if it was the NDC who is not complying with the constitution he said: “The passion or the ‘insane obsession’ for the protection of the constitution will make me insist on the right thing to be done.”
Tsatsu Tsikata said his obsession also involves the protection of human rights which made him advocate for a lot of people during the 70s.
To him, the law profession is not just a day job but also having a sense of mission in the profession.
He further stated that during the 70s there was no ultimate legal framework that guides conduct so Presidents can within munites pass instruments to justify their actions and judges also giving rulings that can not be explained.
But now that there is a constitution we need to protect.
