The host of Newsfile on Joy News Samson Lardy Anyenini has explained why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had no representative on the show today November 14, 2020.
The show mostly serves as a platform for these political parties to discuss issues affecting the country.
Multimedia had earlier advertised the show and Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi was part of the panellist but to the surprise of many he did not turn up.
Samson Anyenini in the course of the programme was asked by his audience why Mr Egyapa did not show up and he revealed the NPP took the decision not to be part of the show.
“As we advertised one of our panellist was supposed to be Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi and Vice Chairman of the Communication’s Committee of Parliament, as you have monitored he isn’t on the show. The simple reason is that belatedly just when the show was ongoing we got information that the NPP is unable to participate because it feels the panelling is biased and unbalanced. The same complaints were made last week and they didn’t feel their own Nana Akomea being on the show was sufficient so that is the case”.

Other panellists on the show were Bright Simmons of Imani-Africa, Dr Abdul Baasit Aziz Bamba a Law Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Yao Gramah, Co-ordinator Third World Network-Africa and Professor Kwesi Prempeh of CDD.
Among matters discussed was the death of former President Jerry John Rawlings and Special Prosecutor’s assesment of the Agyapa deal.
