The Akomadan District Police Command has arrested one of the suspects involved in the attack and robbery of a bullion Van on Techiman- Sunyani road

According to the District Command, Rev Francis Kusi- Kwabena of True Faith Church Affiliate Nkwanta Kumasi reported that on May 9 at about 1:00am he was in charge vehicle No AS 4041 from Chiraa towards Kumasi through Mankranso to Afrancho and upon reaching a section of the road he was attacked and robbed by five armed men and bolted with his car.

After interrogation, the suspect was arrested and further searched on the said car retrieved one G3 rifle, one pump action Gun, sixteen AAA cartridges, and nine G3 ammunitions.

The suspect admitted as a member of the team which attacked and robbed a bullion Van on Techiman- Sunyani road on 08/05/2020 and mentioned his accomplices.

The suspect has been handed over to Regional Command Bono East together with the exhibits.

A mini bullion van belonging to the WESTEC Security Systems was robbed at gunpoint at Maapehia on the Techiman–Sunyani road in the Bono East Region.

The van with registration GT 3181-W was headed towards Sunyani from Techiman but was intercepted by eight armed men on Friday afternoon.

The gang opened gunfire at the mini bullion van leaving the Police officer who was on escort duty wounded on the left arm.

They made away with an undisclosed amount of money in the safe.
