A concerned staff ofthe Nursing and Midwifery Council has petitioned the Ministry of Health to immediately investigate the procurement and installation of some 42 CCTV Cameras at the council’s head office at Okponglo in Accra which allegedly cost over GH¢500,000.
According to the petitioner, Koffie Harrison, management of the council deliberately bloated the cost of the procurement and installation of the 42 CCTV cameras.
The Ministry was in 2015 alerted when the process started but the “registrar went ahead to procure this service without recourse to the Public Procurement Authority for approval let alone his management team’s involvement”, Harrison stated.
According to him, “the registrar’s fraudulent behavior has subjected the whole council staff to a serious economic hardship”, adding that the registrar “has engaged himself into; create, loot and share activities”.
The 42 CCTV cameras, according to a supplier, should not cost more than GH¢100,000, starrfmonline reported.
