A medical doctor at the New Cross Clinic at Nima, a suburb of Accra, is being investigated by the Nima Police for allegedly assaulting one of his staff, leading to serious wounds on the face of the victim.

Dr. Acquaye Gyan has therefore denied ever assaulting the 63-year-old Ward Assistant, Dorothy Owusuaa, who also doubles as his accountant.

The case was reported on August 28 at the Amasaman Police but she was referred to Nima Police since it has the jurisdiction of the case.

She, therefore, reported the case at the Nima Police Station on August 29 but they were asked to report on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, since Dr. Acquaye Gyan denied ever assaulting the woman.

Narrating her ordeal to PrimeNewsGhana, Madam Dorothy Owusuaa said on August 28, 2018, she worked from dawn till 1:30pm without food and so decided to buy food to eat since she was hungry.

She explained that while eating at the theatre where all the workers always eat, Dr. Acquaye Gyan instructed one of the nurses to call her so she hurriedly washed her hand and responded to the doctor’s call at his office immediately.

Madam Owusuaa alleged that the moment she got to the office, Dr. Acquaye Gyan gave her a dirty slap on the face and before she could open her mouth to ask why she was receiving such slap, Dr. Acquaye Gyan allegedly gave her three additional slaps on her face, making four.

She added that blood started oozing from the face as a result of the slaps which also spilled in the hands of Dr. Acquay Gyan.

It took another nurse to help her clean the blood from the face.

The Ward Assistant said this was not the first time Dr. Acquaye Gyan had done such a thing but for fear of losing her job, she always keeps them to herself.

She after the incident, she went to the drawer to check how much she had made for the day and realized she had made GHS1,500 and so gave it to Dr. Acquaye Gyan and left for home.

Madam Owusuaa added that “I live at Pokuasi so I went to the Pokuasi police station and they gave me a hospital form. I had no money on me so I brought the police report to Maamobi Polyclinic and I was asked to come to Nima Police Station to make a formal complaint and the doctor was invited”.

Dr. Acquay Gyan has therefore denied ever beating the 63-year-old woman, alleging that she scratched her face with an excuse of extorting money from him.
