The National Identification Authority, NIA is set to resume its Ghana Card registration after being given green light by the President yesterday.

The President yesterday in his 10th Covid-19 address said the EC and the NIA can continue with their activities but should make sure all safety protocols are observed.

The EC’s CI 126 which currently before parliament only recognises the NIA card and passport as the identification document for the voters’ registration

According to him, due to the fact that the card will a recognised document for the Voters registration, they will even start their registration before the EC’s activities.

He said the NIA will also revisit all the other regions to make sure everyone is captured.

“The NIA has also put in place strategies that they will come with officially to ensure that nobody is left out or nobody has any issues. We will even start the registration before the EC, we will continue from the Eastern Region and go back to all the other regions again. We will finish the Eastern Region and there is a mob up in every other region in the country. At some places, it may be going on alongside the EC’s registration but we will start before the EC.”
