The opposition National Democratic Congress’ long held aim of inculcating the principles, ideologies and values of the party into its members is ready to materialize.

The socialist party will on August 10, 2017, launch its much awaited political training school.

The Director of Research of the opposition NDC has hinted that the school, Ghana Institute of Social Democracy when officially opened will focus mainly on ensuring that party enthusiasts understand the principles and ideologies of the NDC.

The Acting Rector of the institute Dr Willaim Ahadzie disclosed that the Philosophy of the NDC, History of the NDC, History of Ghana, Constitutional Studies, Political Party management, Political Communication and Leadership Skills, Elections and Electoral systems will be the programmes that will run in the Institute. At the early stage, the school will focus more on short courses, workshops and conferences.

He further stated that the school will not limit itself to only NDC party members, but all persons interested in learning more about the ideals of social democracy would be admitted as well.

He added that plans are far advanced to register the school with the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE).

In an interview with Graphic online, Dr Ahadzie indicated that when the party finally establishes the school, it would ensure that party appointees, Members of Parliament (MPs) and executives will all be taken through the principles and philosophies of the party in order to work along the lines of the party’s principles.

The Acting Rector continued that during the launch, the party will inaugurate the Institute’s Programmes Committee, Academic Affairs Committee, Administration Committee, Finance Committee, and Estate Committee. More so, the school in the interim will start from the conference room of the party’s headquarters at Adabrakar in Accra.
