The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine, KCCR is expected to by Thursday clear the backlog of COVID-19 test samples at the facility.
Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research has cleared its backlog of test samples.
After all the backlog has been cleared the testing centres in the country will be able to deliver results of the samples in 24 hours.
Speaking at the Information Ministry’s press briefing today, Professor William Kwabena Ampofo, Head of Virology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research said by Thursday the KCCR should be done with the rest of the samples.
“The 1, 892 samples awaiting testing, it was 3,500 yesterday. We expect that by Thursday the backlog will be done.”
Ghana has confirmed 550 new COVID-19 cases making the total case count 2,719. The Ghana Health Service’s website made these new updates known.
The update also indicated one new death and 294 recoveries.
