Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako says it will be prejudicial for President Akufo-Addo to sack Hawa Koomson as Minister for Special Development initiative.
His comments come after calls from The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some section of Ghanaians that the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency must be sacked for firing a gun at a registration centre.
Kweku Baako speaking on Joy FM’s NewsFile said Hawa can decide to voluntarily resign as a Minister but it will be improper and prejudicial for President Akufo-Addo to fire her because investigations are ongoing.
“Resignation is more or less voluntary and Hawa Koomson can exercise that option on her own at this material momemt. The President could either exercise the descretion of suspension or dismissal but it will be prejudicial at this stage when the police investigations are ongoing. The President being a lawyer may want to wait.
Hawa Koomson has come under stern criticisms after admitting she fired warning shots in self-defence because her life was threatened by some thugs alleged to be affiliated to the opposition NDC.
It was chaotic at the Steps to Christ registration centre on July 20, 2020 as the NDC and the NPP clashed.
This led to a scuffle and gunshots were fired with some motor bikes been burnt.
Hawa Koomson was on Friday invited by the Central Regional Police Command where she was interrogated.
The Police retrieve a gun, ammunition and license from her, they also forwarded her case to the CID Headquarters in Accra for investigations to continue.
