The Eastern regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng and  and his regional Youth Organizer, Apau Haruna Owiredu have been banned from entering the Ofori Panin Fie Palace  of the Okyehene by the Kyebi Executive Council.

The two NDC officials are alleged to have  insulted the Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional area, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II and the Okyeman stool.

Mr Boateng supported by Apau Haruna Owiredu is reported  to have held a press conference to hurl invectives at the Okyehene after he as President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, led a group of chiefs  to inspect roads in the region most of which were in a bad state and questioned whether the eminent Chief was the sector Minister for him to have gone on such a tour.

The Council, in their bid enforce the ban, has written to the Eastern Regional Minister Mavis Ama Frimpong who is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Okyehene at his palace on Friday not to bring the two Ken to the palace..

Assistant State Secretary to Akyem Abuakwa Council, D.N Ofori Attah, who confirmed the ban told Kasapa FM’s Fiifi Banson that the Council’s decision was to avert any unforeseen incident and ensure peace in the area during the Minister’s visit as many people especially the youth are angry at the two for disrespecting their leader.

“He [Tawiah Boateng] has not shown any remorse and apologized for the invectives he spewed on the Okyehene and as such he is not welcome to Okyehene’s palace.”

“This will serve as a punishment and deterrence to others who think they have the right undermine the sanctity and dignity of the Chieftaincy institution because the last time I checked it was a criminal offence to insult a chief, because as a leader of a regional branch of the ruling party, the first and foremost responsibility looking at the importance of the chieftaincy institution is to uphold its dignity”, he added
