The Electoral Commission, EC has replaced an ID card with a wrong date of birth in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.
A statement from the EC said their attention has been drawn to a voter’s ID card circulating on social media bearing the name Abukari Osumanu with the date of birth, 1702.
The Commission has traced the said card to the polling station with the code M133502 in Tamale and our regional director has confirmed that the problem was a typo.
The card has since been corrected and re-issued to the applicant.
The statement further said it has been the practice at all registration centres for applicants to be provided with typed-out forms to check and verify their details before the cards are finally issued.
The commission recognises that this may not work for all applicants, since not every applicant is literate.
