Mr. Asante-Apeatu, made the call in a speech read on his behalf at the graduating ceremony of Senior Command Course Six at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba.

On indiscipline and unprofessional conduct, the IGP said the indiscretions of a few miscreants would not be allowed to blight all the good efforts they are making to raise the image of the service.

“In this regard, the Police Administration has strengthened the Police intelligence, Professional Standards, and the Inspections unit to investigate all reports and allegations of corruption, misuse of power and other aberrations that negate all our good work”.

The IGP urged all Officers of the Service to uphold and defend the principles of the service at all times.

He announced that the administration has released guidelines for increased numbers of police officers who wish to pursue higher education, saying these are in line with government’s desire to have a service of well trained and motivated policemen and women.

COP Charles Tokor, Commandant of the College, said 26 Police Superintendents drawn from various divisions were the participants at the course and they were taken through various topics including police operational strategies, investigation, emerging security issues, and national security architecture.

He expressed the hope that the officers having successfully completed the course will use the knowledge and skills acquired in a more professional and efficient way to the service of the nation.

He thanked the IGP and the Police Administration for providing the requisite resources to make the course a reality.
