National Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Kwame Nkrumah has served notice that the purported strike action by commercial drivers set to commence on Monday 8th February, 2016 has not be sanctioned by management.
According to Mr. Nkrumah, the purported strike serves no purpose adding that while it’s true that the high charge of the insurance companies is worrisome, there’s need for patience to use agreed routes in addressing genuine concerns.
“It is hasty and a sign of bad faith for some of our colleagues to threaten strike action since the negotiations we had with other stake holders leading to the fuel price reduction covered all elements including insurance charge” he said.
He added that he’s reached out to his GPRTU, Co-operative and PROTOA colleagues to halt the intended strike action on Monday.
