Residents of Bimbago South in the Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri constituency in the North East Region have boycotted today’s polls.
According to reports, the residents today did not turn up to vote at the polling station.
The residents earlier this year protested over the lack of good roads, portal water and other social amenities in the area.
They vowed not to vote if these social amenities are not provided for them.
They initially tried to prevent the EC officials from setting up in the community but with the intervention of the Ghana Police Service they officials were able to set up.
Meanwhile, in Accra, voting is yet to start at Weija-Gbawe Goil filling station polling station in Greater Accra.
This is because the vehicle carrying the election materials is said to have broken down and caused a delay.
The Electoral Commission said it is working hard to ensure materials are put in another vehicle and moved to the polling station.
Voting started at 7 am and will end at 5 am.
Voters are stranded currently and there is total confusion at the place as they are very agitated about the turn of events.
