The much anticipated National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) will commence today September 8, 2020.
The annual event organised by Primetime Limited was officially launched on Tuesday, September 1.
Balloting for the preliminary rounds of the 25th edition of the NSMQ was done by dignitaries from the Ghana Education Service (GES) on behalf of the various schools on the same day.
The NSMQ was initially scheduled for between June and July this year but was postponed to facilitate judicious containment of the global pandemic.
St. Augustine’s College won the 2019 edition of the NSMQ. 2013 winners St Thomas Aquinas will begin the prelims with St Mary’s SHS and Ghanata SHS today September 8.
The Managing Director, Primetime Limited, Nana Akua Akoma-Asare says audience will only be allowed at the final stage of the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz.
Ms Nana Akua Akoma-Asare speaking on Joy FM’s morning show said they are putting in measures to ensure the programme returns.
“We will ensure all contestants are tested. We are working with Noguchi to be able to ensure that it is done. We will only allow audience at the final stage”
The National Science & Maths Quiz seeks to promote the study of Science and Mathematics in the country. The programme has been popular at unearthing local young scholarly talent since 1993, and was adjudged the CIMG TV Programme of the Year 2017.
