If you get more recognition, you are smart and have many ideas which your bosses like, your performance report is excellent, people tend to feel jealous and this happens a lot at workplaces.

A jealous colleague can break your career and to detect this notion, here are some tips that you ought to keep in mind.

Are they too busy to help you?

You are a team player and you always help out but when you need the help, he or she is too “caught up”, “busy” for it. This is a major sign that they have issues. It gets worse and is outright jealousy if they pass a snide remark as well.

Mocking your praise

If you are being praised by your seniors but the co-worker later mocks the same, you cannot let that get to you. Yes this is a sign of jealousy but you cannot help it.

No invitations

The colleagues have gone out for lunch or for happy hours but they do invite you is a big sign that something is wrong. They are shutting you out of social events. So try spending time with people who help in shaping you with all the positivity instead.

Talking behind your back

This happens a lot. There are many individuals who tend to talk behind your back. They add their own “wisdom” and may even spread it like a Chinese whisper. This is where you decide to either confront head on or ignore. You must stay calm and not let this hurt you. You should be good at your job and maintain a good relationship with your bosses. The people important must know your truth.

Always disagree

If they are jealous of you, they may disagree with everything you suggest, every idea you give. The resistance may be too clear and obvious. You could as well try to see their perspective and try their ideas as well.

Ignoring you

Some people can be very venomous. Some people tend to ignore you when you are speaking. They act as if you are just not there in the room. The best way to deal with such souls is to keep it crisp with them. Just wish them good morning or good evening and keep the conversations short.

Sabotaging your work

This covers people who have no standards. A very under the belt move indeed, some people have the tendency to sabotage your work, destroy your files or delete something crucial. This is because of their hatred and jealousy. Best way to avoid the fiasco that follows, take back ups of everything. Keep copies and bills or whatever you may need like Plan B. Being prepared is the key.
