Ghana’s veteran hiplife artiste Reginald Yaw Asante Osei popularly known as Reggie Rockstone has disclosed that he disagrees with Ghana Gaming Commission and Food and Drugs Authorities for banning celebrities from advertising for Alcoholic companies and Betting companies.
His comments come on the back of the Gaming Commission of Ghana banning celebrities from advertising for betting companies.
Speaking on Joy FM on Saturday, October 24, 2020, Reggie expressed his disappointment in the Ghana Gaming Commission and Food and Drug Authority (FDA).
According to him, it is extremely the responsibility of parents to teach their kids what is right and celebrities will not have any influence on them.
“Celebrities aren’t the one to spoil the youth, if children are taught well by their parent, they will know what is good and bad for them, youth have phones and they watch pornography with them so it is up to them to make the right choice, hence stopping celebrities from advertisement won’t change anything’, he said.
Reggie Rockstone refered to as the ‘Grandpapa of Hiplife’ says the government shouldn’t have allowed Betting companies operate in Ghana in the first place since it they believe it will have a bad influence on the youth.
“Government shouldn’t have allowed betting companies to operate in Ghana if they think it has an influence on the youth, stopping celebrities from adverting won’t bring any change to the youth because they have access to the internet and can bet on their phone if not allowed to enter such betting shops”.
Reggie Rockstone also stated that social media has been so broad and easy to access hence it is up to individuals to make good use of it.
